ARRANGED LOVE...
9 months later...
It was 10 a.m in the morning , she brushed her long hair and tied it up with a band standing infront of the mirror. Checking out repeatedly if the kurta suited her pants.
" Do I look fat in these??", she thought to herself.
It seemed she was perplexed about the day as she had never thought of just going straight to meet someone with the perspective of marriage that too someone unknown to her. The idea of arranged marriage was always obsolete to her. She never thought of going across matches unfamiliar to her or her family. Still, as that was her mom's repeated requests and her dad's undaunted concern of getting her married , made her finally to agree to their urge to go and meet a guy whom her parents fixed up for her.
She didn't want to go through her regular makeup, rather tried staying with a straight pony and a lip-gloss so as to look disinterested already at the proposal.
As she sipped her last drop of coffee in mug , her phone began to ring with the name " BHAI" flashing on it , which she picked up running to her bed.
" Hey di, all set?" inquired his younger brother on the other side
" How can I be , when you know its already hard to put up with your parents who are just eager to get their so called 26 yr old ' getting older' daughter , and now this stupid thing to go and meet a random guy so as to stay with him forever", she blabbered pauselessly.
"Ha ha ha , chill di. Why are you so tensed. Who said you have to live with any random guy for your entire life? Besides, you know na our parents are never stubborn with us. You can simply not go!". He said to pacify her and added, " I can handle them, you just dont worry".
"Naah. Its fine I cant let them down every time. Lets see. I am gonna go n simply come n say I didnt like the guy, simple that would be. " She chuckled and added " who knows if he's gonna reject me " .
Both siblings laughed out loud on either sides of phone.
"I know arranged was not your type ever. Anyways, Go, its already time." his brother said.
"Yeah. gtg, Bye." she replied as she picked up her car keys, put up her shoes and locked her apartment.
"Call me when you reach out!" he said and put the call off.
As she sat in the car and drove past the road she smirked at the thought of how slowly, by the time she had started to believe in the frame of society and was driving to meet any random person just so as to agree to her parents decision while somewhere within, she too had thought of finally settling herself with an arranged love or so in terms.
But deep within she too knew ,trusting a whole new different man will be tougher than before.
